what did you wind up getting? i just bought iris and will use it for light switches, plugs and thermostat but your video concerns me if I want to integrate google home or security features. I wanted samsung smartthings but i had a credit at lowes and took advantage. lag and connectivity are my concerns.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on Iris or LOWES — I've had the system for nearly a year — the people at Lowes have no business being in the Home Automation business. They are careless and to be candid, the entire platform and their products are a scam at this point — when you purchase a system and 9 months later it is obsolete. Something is very wrong with this, especially as it is applies to a subscription service that has proprietary devices (not all are, but some are). They hook you on a system and then change the game and HUB and instead of listening to customers, they try to buy me a Tablet to solve my issue (I cant use the phone APP and since Ver 2 has no PC interface, I cant use it). It will be year in July. I purchased 45 devices, got hooked on the system ver 1, which works perfectly fine and now they are booting customer from it…forcing a move to Ver 2…which wont work with some of my devices either, like the Blue Line Innovations, which has collected data for 9 months and will soon be pointless. That has really helped me with my energy monitoring and having it centralized is key to the success of my system. I am so frustrated with this system not because it doesn't work for my needs — it's awesome that it does — but the people running it are incompetent and wish Lowes would listen to their community of users who have been very vocal about this and other issues – I believe there are trade laws that have been violated when it comes to subscription services, support and implied warranties, but what does a person do! I wish I had purchased Smarthings — but I've heard of issues with that, too..

As far as my Iris complete setup I get instant text, phone call at home and an email within seconds. My husband would leave the house for work and would forget to shut off the partial alarm. When home I set it to partial only because I am home. When away I set it as soon as I pull out of the driveway or it will go off as soon as my camera picks up movement. Sometimes you need to delete app and re download it and it works also that way. I have never been put on hold longer than 2 minutes and I even enjoyed calling them for support because we get a few laughs. It works great on my IPad which I downloaded from the site itself, and it works on both IPhones 5S & 6S.

I bought mine in December of last year and I had a terrible time with hardware.
I had to go back to the store 3 times before I found a hub that worked.  Then I had to go another time for a keypad that worked and a broken door sensor.
Each time though, when I delt with tech support they were great!!   They were allways quick to check things by checking your hardware from their end, and usually their solution was; Go to the store and get a new one.
Well now I think all my parts are working now so I guess I will see how long it lasts.
If its stays stable then it is a pretty good setup for under 100 dollars and no contract or monitoring fees .

I've also had this system for about 3 weeks now and had nothing but problems.  For some reason my wireless router shuts down randomly 6-8 times per day since we installed this system.  Every time it shuts down, I get text messages and emails though.  Then I have to reboot my router. I never had any issues before we installed this.  I also have a remote for my light/ceiling fan that stopped working where the keypad was installed.  With all of the extras so far this has cost us about $700.  Big waste of money for us here! 🙁
