How is the panel powered? All of the videos reviewing the system are shot like yours-pretty close up and doesnt show if there is an ugly power cord or something hanging out the bottom.

So what bad neighborhood do people live in that a security system is actually needed?  Some Detroit section?  As for temperature settings:  isn't that is what a programmable thermostat is for?  All these services seem like a waste of money especially with the price of groceries now.

TomBom292 Also the equipment that you received from ADT is not their equipment. ADT gets their equipment from dealers such as Honeywell and 2gig all they really do is place an ADT sticker on the equipment

TomBom292 Vivint does not deal our equipment to any other home security provider,so it is more likely that a previous customer violated their contract and sold their system

Hey I'm DeAndre a Door to Door Representative of Vivint, We actually do have indoor and outdoor cameras if the representative didn't mention this to you I am sorry for that we are making great strides to have our representatives be has knowledgeable and respectful as possible. The system does in fact update automatically because it is connected to your home Internet. If you have any questions just ask me.

What I don't quite understand is why does someone need this kind of interface on the security system controller box? Who's going to stand there and look at the weather, check their thermostats, or click through menus on their way out the door? Just seems like unnecessary complexity and cost.

I've had my Vivint System for 7 months now and it has been working great so far. The rep that came door to door was very professional and it impressed me cuz you don't find that personal human to human interaction done with professionalism anymore these days. You will see some good reviews and some bad reviews over all with Vivint, I did a lot of research and then called my rep back and ended up buying it from him. There are bad reviews but learned they have over a million customers and when you do the math it's about 97% of their customers are happy. My rep admitted that they launched the new Sky control panel in 2014 probably a few months before it was ready and they had some bugs in the first two months of installing them but he said 2015 has been a million times better and that the Sky panel has a completely new software update now kinda like how old iPhones used to bug out untill they got the updates better. ADT has way more horror stories and worse reviews than Vivint and I learned from personally having ADT that ADT has dealers so sometimes your not even dealing directly with ADT. I'm a software engineer and a fan of PC world magazine and I saw a video on here where Scot Brown director of PC world Named Vivint the #1 ranked home security system out of all companies. That was enough for me right there. Got my system installed and old ADT panel can't even compare to what I have now with Vivint. I have rules and notifications set with my system now and can see and control doorbell camera with the intercom, can lock and un lock doors, control lights and have been saving 20$ a month on utilities by controlling thermostat from phone. For the free equipment and no start up cost, and I only pay about 300$ a year after my home insurance discount and savings on utilities with energy management for the monitoring. Which is priceless when considering the neighborhood I live in for my family. My personal rep showed me an instance where he saw people putting bad reviews on the internet about Vivint that actually worked for other alarm companies. He showed me a screen shot of a bad review on Vivints Facebook page, my rep actually sent a personal message to this customer to ask why he was upset with Vivint and if there was anything he could do to help? The person that left the bad review actually ended up working for another alarm company and was just trying to Dirty Vivint's name. The imposter who left the bad review then actually tried to recruit my personal rep and offered him higher commissions to come to his alarm company. My rep told me Vivint actually pays the smallest commission to their reps but he said likes representing them becuase it's a better system and even with smaller commissions he sells a lot of these things. I guess he said Vivint looks Into their bad reviews and a lot of the times its not even a customer in their system. Do your research but for sure videos like this one and all the awards they have won show that the equipment speaks for it's self. Their doorbell camera has been winning all types of awards and have been all over the tech articles I follow. Looks like soon they will take over #1 spot from ADT. Much better equipment, I haven't had a break in or a false alarm yet so I'm not sure how the monitoring compares to ADT but so far pleased with the equipment and have refered many of my family members and friends to the rep that set me up and he gave me actually 100$ cash for each 5 of my referrals.

Vivint is a terrible system… They are not loyal to their customers. Their camera and recording is awful. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VIVINT!!! They wanted me to upgrade to the Sky from the GoControl that is no longer supported by their server (per their technicians) and pay $199 for that upgrade in order for the video recording to work properly. WTF I pay too much this system.
